See in real life what you’ve read in the Scriptures!
The Israel Museum invites the Christian community to explore this new and fascinating route. Its 12 stations exhibit rare archaeological artifacts that reflect and echo the ancient Scriptures, bringing to life the period of the Bible, the days of Jesus, and early Christianity in the Holy Land. In this, they join the model of Second Temple Jerusalem and the Dead Sea Scrolls as magnets for many thousands of visitors from around the globe. Duration of the tour: one to two hours (depending on the group schedule). The route runs through the Museum’s air-conditioned galleries and is comfortable in any weather.
The stations include the following:
Crucifixion
A heel bone pierced by a nail is the only direct archaeological evidence ever found of Roman crucifixion.
Pontius Pilate and Caiaphas
The exhibit includes a Latin dedicatory inscription bearing the name of Pontius Pilate, the Roman prefect, and the ossuary of the high priest, Caiaphas – two men connected to the trial of Jesus.
Stone inscriptions from the Second Temple
Two rare relics of the Temple Jesus knew.
Two silver amulets, engraved with the Priestly Benediction
They contain the oldest extant biblical text (Num. 6:24–26).
The “House of David” inscription, dating to the 9th century BCE
This is the only ancient reference outside the Bible to the Davidic royal dynasty.
