What to be Sure to Pack

  1. Your passport should be valid for at least six months past your scheduled return date. Photocopy your passport’s identification page and keep it separate from the original.
  2. Airline tickets and photo identification.
  3. Travel and health insurance papers.
  4. Over-the-counter and prescription medications in their original containers. Please make a note of the generic names of your medications.
  5. Sunglasses, sun block and a hat.
  6. Camera, extra batteries, battery charger.
  7. Comfortable walking shoes.
  8. Water shoes (rafting sandals, thongs or Crocs).
  9. Bathing suit for the River Jordan and Dead Sea float.
  10. Raingear: Poncho and umbrella (from November through April).
  11. Sweater or light jacket (heavier windbreaker in winter months).
  12. Modest dress, covering the legs to below the knee, as well as the shoulders, for both sexes.
  13. Shampoo, personal first aid kit (they are usually not provided in Israeli hotels).
  14. Liquid or powdered soap for hand laundry.
  15. Cell phone, battery charger.
  16. Credit card and cash. (It’s recommended to bring a bunch of $1 bills).
  17. An empty duffle bag to pack your souvenirs and gifts to bring home.
  18. Notebook or journal and pens.
  19. Your most important guidebook: the Bible.
